Evan Roth Smith broke down early voting turnout ahead of NYC mayoral primary

Slingshot partner Evan Roth Smith told Gothamist that early ballots for New York’s 2025 Democratic mayoral primary reflected a moderate increase in turnout and not the “revolution in democratic participation” that some expected.

“ The numbers that we're seeing now in the early vote are reflective of a more modest growth, 10% increase in turnout, rather than some sort of revolution in democratic participation in New York City, which would be wonderful, but I don't think is what we're seeing,” said Roth Smith.
