Evan Roth Smith joins Bloomberg Surveillance to discuss the Harris campaign’s turn towards economic policy
Slingshot founding partner Evan Roth Smith explained on Bloomberg “Surveillance” how the presidential race was turning towards substance after a scorching summer of political theater.
He said that Kamala Harris’s goal for the final few months had to be articulating an economic agenda that let working Americans know she was focused on the same things they were.
“We’re coming out of this summer of pageantry and high drama, the conventions, the assassination attempt on Trump, the change of candidacy on the Democratic side, and now it’s time to settle down into a Fall of substance and policy. Kamala Harris has a lot to do to define herself on the economy, a lot of work to do to convince voters that she meets what they want to see out of Democratic policy on inflation, on prices, the border. She’s begun to do that. You saw prices highlighted in a big way, and economic concerns, bread and butter concern for families, working families. Highlights from her career as California Attorney General played again and again in videos during speeches at the convention, that she took on big companies, and we’re going to see that more and more as she defines herself as this champion of working people.”
